GBOT partners with Association of Nigerian Exporters

VANGUARD, FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2010

In its endeavor to reach out to the African financial markets, the Global Board of Trade partners with Association of Nigerian Exporters that would equip the exporters and traders from Nigeria to trade currency and commodity derivatives on GBOT platform.

Mauritius, 20th October, 2010: Association of Nigerian Exporters (ANE) and Global Board of Trade (GBOT) signed a strategic alliance to look at business opportunities for GBOT in Nigeria and equip Nigerian exporters and financial market participants for commodity and currency derivatives trade on Global Board of Trade, in conformity with respective regulatory and other government compliance.
To this effect, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between GBOT and Association of Nigerian Exporters at “African Echoes”, the annual flagship conference of GBOT held on 16th of October in Mauritius and attended by more than 200 thought leaders from Africa and across the globe.

The Association of Nigerian Exporters is the export sector apex organization that represents the interest of Nigerian exporters in government boards and committees responsible for export development and promotion in Nigeria. That Association represents the private export sector on the Boards of Government Agencies and Committees responsible for export development and promotion. Such Agencies and Committees include the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA), States’ Export Promotion Committees, Nigeria Committee On

Trade Procedures (NITPRO) and Presidential Committee on Export-oriented companies.
Association of Nigerian Exporters will introduce GBOT to financial associations, trade & investment associations, banks, market makers, clearing companies, finance & economy teams, fund houses, traders, exporters and government representatives in Nigeria. That would enable GBOT to offer its exchange platform to the Nigerian Financial Market and offer the members of ANE the opportunity to hedge their risks through trading on commodities and currency derivatives.

Commenting on this strategic alliance, Joseph Bosco, MD & CEO of GBOT, said: “GBOT is a multi-asset class Exchange built to fulfil the needs of the African markets and to foster investment opportunities from all quarters. Teaming with the Association of Nigerian Exporters will certainly add impetus to GBOT’s presence in such a prominent market as is Nigeria’s and it will help in bringing our financial solutions to the Nigerian business community.”

Prince Joseph Idiong, Director General, Association of Nigerian Exporters, welcomes positively the agreement with GBOT: “Our mandate is to promote export in all its ramifications. The partnership with GBOT would equip us for the global commodities and derivatives trade. The collaboration between both our organizations would fast-tract commodities exchange operations and practice, foster wider relationship with stakeholders, equip exporters with requisite skills, as well as boost agric and mineral production.
