The Association of Nigerian Exporters (ANE) is a statutory member of the Governing Board of the NEPC (NEPC Act 64, 1992). It is therefore part of the policy makers of the NEPC.

The NEPC and ANE are like Siamese twins destined to work together for the development of non-oil export in Nigeria.

In other words, the NEPC is in the public sector what ANE is in the private sector.

Both have the mandate to promote programmes under bilateral and multilateral agreements of Nigeria like African Growth & Opportunity Act (AGOA) and Export Trading House Scheme.

See NEPC Act 64 of 1992.

The Association of Nigerian Exporters (ANE) is a statutory member of the Governing Board of Nigerian Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA Act 63, 1992).

NEPZA has been very proactive in its partnership with the Association through sponsorship of the Association’s bilateral and multilateral initiatives.

Such include sponsorship to Nigeria-China Bilateral Commission Meeting in Beijing, US-Nigeria Trade & Investment Framework Agreement Meeting in Washington DC, World Free Zone Convention in Hyderabad, India, Canton Trade Fair in Guangzhou, Chain, I-FOR AFRIKA Trade & Investment Conference in Mumbai, India, Oil & Gas Conference in Bethesda, Maryland, USA, etc.

See NEPZA Act 63 of 1992.

The Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade & Investment (FMITI) is the Supervising Ministry over the Affairs of Association of Nigerian Exporters (ANE). The Association is part of the Ministry’s Non-State Actors under the aegis of Organized Private Sector (OPS).

Specifically, the Association is the export sector apex organization that represents the interest of Nigerian exporters in government boards and committees responsible for export development and promotion in Nigeria. Such Agencies and Committees include the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA), States’ Export Promotion Committees, Nigeria Committee On Trade Procedures (NITPRO), etc.

The Association also served in many Ad-Hoc Policy Committees of the Ministry including Parastatals Review Committee which reviewed the activities of Agencies under the Ministry, especially with regards to Staff Ratioalization. The Association participates in negotiating Bilateral and Multilateral Agreements such as US-Nigeria Trade & Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA), and Agreements under the World Trade Organisation.
